Kelly Ripa: Cleanse With High-Alkaline Diet ‘Changed My Life,’ Helped With Pain For ‘Strange Injuries’

Kelly Ripa used a cleanse diet to transform her body and mind. The TV talk show revealed that by choosing a high-alkaline cleanse plan, she’s never felt better, reported People.

For Kelly, weight loss wasn’t even the primary goal of her new approach to diet. Famed for her bubbly personality and light-hearted spirit on Live! With Kelly and Michael, Ripa credited the cleanse for helping her feel better as well. She admitted that she had been in pain prior to the cleanse.

“[An anti-acid diet is] responsible for me not being in pain. Yes. It has changed my life, it’s changed the whole way I think about food,” she said.

At 44, with a family as well as her demanding career, Kelly added that she had no desire to go on a diet that involved being hungry. Instead, however, her cleanse actually gave her more foods from which to choose than her normal food plan.

“It’s a very manageable cleanse. It’s very manageable. You’re not hungry. It’s not like … people go, ‘What are you eating? You’re just drinking, you know, a green juice a day?’ No, it’s not like that. You eat. I actually eat much more on this cleanse than I do in my actual life, but it’s what you eat and how you eat it.”

Ripa worked with Dr. Daryl Gioffre, a nutritionist and chiropractor, to customize the cleanse for her own needs. But she confessed that she isn’t perfect when it comes to following his guidelines.

“I’m still drinking coffee, even though I lied and told him I wasn’t,” she admitted.

However, Kelly added that she has really struggled with pain and is currently undergoing physical therapy for what she described as “strange injuries.”

But Ripa feels that the cleanse did help her to manage that pain, reported Us Weekly.

The diet is designed to help guide dieters to a “Get Off Your Acid” eating plan, and the chiropractor also offers alkaline supplements to simplify the process.

If you’re thinking that the concept of a cleanse sounds familiar, credit that to Gwyneth Paltrow who, as the Inquisitr reported, made celebrity cleanses famous.

However, Paltrow advises customizing cleanses based on the season, with soup cleanses targeted for the winter months.

“In the colder months, when our bodies crave warmth and comfort, juice at every meal isn’t very appealing. And so soup — the ultimate comfort food — makes a whole lot of sense as a wintertime alternative,” suggested the actress.
