Maroon 5, Adam Levine ‘Hurts’ So Good On U.K. Tour

Adam Levine knows how to bring more than just the pain to a live show. Backed by Maroon 5, the band kicked off their U.K. tour by debuting their latest smash hit song, “This Summer’s Gonna Hurt,” and notching some favorable reviews in the process.

Maroon 5 released “This Summer’s Gonna Hurt” to radio earlier this month, just in time to unleash the song on a hungry Wembley SSEArena crowd in England. According to a review of the show by Blasting News, Levine and the group held nothing back as they took to the stage.

“Three time Grammy Award winning and three time American Music Award recipients proved that they are worthy of all the awards that have come their way since their beginning in 1994. The relentless pace of the show kept the crowd breathless as they fit 17 of their hits in to a tightly packed set… From Animals to the encore that included a new song, ‘This Summer,’ and then, ‘Moves like Jagger’ and finally ‘Sugar.’ “

The review continued, showering further praise on Levine and Maroon 5, describing how the show’s production only enhanced the experience for those in attendance.

“Adam Levine strutted up and down the runway like a supermodel working the crowd around him and teasing the crowd further up the runway. The band didn’t use any dancers or screen projectors, the visual senses were fulfilled with lots of lighting changes giving the feel of watching a band that play and think like a band; no gimmicks just retro lighting with a funky feel, befitting of their signature sound.”

Meanwhile, the decidedly strange tune, “This Summer’s Gonna Hurt” has been tearing up the charts ever since Adam and Maroon 5 showcased it on NBC’s The Voice during the season finale. Since then, “This Summer’s Gonna Hurt” has been a radio force.

According to Headline Planet, the song is both a Top 25 radio hit and the most added adult contemporary song spinning on radio today. It’s also already made it’s way onto several lists, naming it one of Maroon 5’s best summer songs.

Bustle, for example, lists “This Summer’s Gonna Hurt” as the number three best Maroon 5 summer jam ever.

“This song ranks highly for a few reasons. One, because it’s just really freaking strange and things I don’t understand intrigue me. Two, because it’s new and therefore it hasn’t been overplayed to the point where it makes my ears bleed. Three, because it has the f-word in it and I’m proud of Maroon 5 for being so ballsy again.”
