Gigi Jordan Sentence: Millionaire Mom Poisons Autistic Son, To Serve 18-Year Prison Term
During the sentencing, a judge in Manhattan didn’t buy the story over why Gigi Jordan killed her autistic son five years ago. Instead, the millionaire mom who gave her son a fatal cocktail in a Fifth Avenue hotel was sentenced to 18 years in prison on Thursday for manslaughter, according to a New York Daily News report.
Jordan, 54, fought back tears as State Supreme Court Justice Charles Solomon sentenced her for taking her son’s life in February of 2010. Solomon admonished the woman for her lack of remorse and her ongoing public campaign to rationalize why she committed the heinous crime of 8-year-old Jude Mirra. Apparently, Gigi Jordan’s attitude weighed heavily on the stiff sentence imposed by the court.
“One would think I would hear something from the defendant about having remorse for what she did… some kind of remorse. She had five years to think about this.”

The woman said she killed her son to protect him over fears of sexual abuse and torture by her ex-husband. Jordan also said she was afraid Jude’s dad would kill her at some point, and she didn’t want her son to be left in the custody of her former spouse.
The judge was not convinced. Solomon pointed to the woman’s fortune — reportedly, some $50 million. He said she could have used her financial assets in many ways to save her son. In his opinion, her reasons for murdering the autistic boy were groundless — there was “no evidence at all” to poison the child, he said.
“All of her money, all of her resources. She decided to kill him. There are so many different things she could have done.”
A prosecutor in the case against Jordan said the woman’s story is “bogus” and she was “the only person Jude really needed to fear — obviously the person he should have been able to trust the most.”

Gigi Jordan’s defense attorney, Allan Brenner, offered another side about his client. He said she was a “loving mother” who was overwhelmed by the fear that her son would be abused should something happen to her. He quoted Jordan from a time just before she administered the fatal prescription drugs to her son.
“Nothing can make me safe… I have complete hopelessness right now… That’s Gigi Jordan to this therapist three days before she took Jude’s life and attempted to take her own.”
The woman could have faced a stiffer sentence had she been convicted of murder. In a statement she read in open court, Jordan said she loved her son “more than anything.”
