103-Year-Old Twins Die Weeks Apart
A set of 103-year-old twins died within weeks of each other at the Abermill Care Home in Caerphilly, Wales. Prior to their deaths, Florence Davies and Glenys Thomas were the oldest known identical twins in the world.
Born in 1912, Florence and Glenys dedicated their lives to their community, church, and their families. Most importantly, the sisters “were always happiest together.”

Gleny’s daughter, Gwenda Stacey, said the 103-year-old twins’ simple lifestyle contributed to their long and fulfilling life.
“The whole family’s social life was centered around their church and their community… Now people are less content with their lot. Everyone wants to move so fast. Their life wasn’t like that… They led respectful and God-fearing lives — their parents were very religious.”
As reported by Huffington Post, the 103-year-old twins were born before the Titanic sank. They lived through two world wars and 19 prime ministers.
At the care home, the women had an interior door installed to adjoin their kitchens. However, they also enjoyed mingling with other residents in the facility’s communal living room.
In an official statement, an Abermill Care Home spokesperson said Florence and Glenys were well-respected and loved.
“It was a huge privilege for all of us at Abermill to care for two such wonderful ladies… They both made such a positive impact on the life at the home and will be hugely missed by all of us here and by their family and friends.”
As reported by Telegraph, Florence Davies and Glenys Thomas celebrated their 103rd birthday together at the care home. Manager John Roberts said the sisters were a true inspiration, and it was “so lovely to see them celebrate [the] milestone together and with their family and friends.
