Stephen Curry The Day After The Big Fall

Stephen Curry hit the floor hard on Monday in Game 4 of the NBA’s Western Conference Finals. In the second quarter, Curry jumped over the back of Trevor Iriza and fell hard to the floor, hitting his back and head. Back home Golden State Warrior fans held their breath as they saw the league’s Most Valuable Player laying on the court, and breathed a huge sigh of relief when Stephen came back later in the game. As reported earlier here on the Inquisitr, Curry and the Warriors were unable to overcome an early deficit, and the Houston Rockets took Game 4, 128-115. The Warriors now lead the seven game series 3-1.

Curry said after the game that he felt fine, but the fall definitely made an impression on him. Stephen told the Contra Costa Times what was going through his mind just before impact.

“I felt like R. Kelly in that video where the angels carried him away. It felt like I was in the air forever.”

The fall was so nasty that some worried that Curry might have a concussion, and he might be pushing himself to come back too soon. It was revealed on Tuesday that Curry suffered only a head contusion. Warriors general manager Bob Myers told the San Jose Mercury News on Tuesday that team doctors were extra cautious with Stephen.

“At the very, very end, when he passed the tests, then it became there’s no reason he couldn’t play. So then it was, he passed the tests, passed them once, passed them twice. At that moment, he looked at me, said, ‘Yeah, I’m ready to go.’ “

Curry had said on Monday that he also made sure to take things slow. Stephen told the Contra Costa Times he thought of the future before he returned.

“I was taking my time to be honest with you, because I wanted to make sure I was OK and not put myself in danger for the rest of the series.”

Golden State head coach Steve Kerr expects Curry to be out on the floor for Game 5, which will be back in Oakland on Wednesday. The Rockets will once again try to stave off elimination, while the Warriors will be trying to make the NBA Finals for the first time since 1975. Warriors fans are hoping that Curry will be up to his old tricks, with no unnecessary tumbles thrown in.

If you know any Warriors fans, you might not want to tell them that Stephen is on the cover of Sports Illustrated for the second straight week. Was Stephen Curry just the latest victim of the SI cover jinx?
