Will Brendan Rodgers Be Replaced By Jurgen Klopp?

After a catastrophic defeat on the road to Stoke, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers could be feeling the heat, especially with German manager, Jurgen Klopp, announcing that he will leave Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season.

Brendan Rodgers, who is just one year into his four year contract, has been dogged by rumors of being this dismissed by American owners John W. Henry and Tom Werner. Despite that, Rodgers had staunchly defended his position as the best candidate for the job.

“I’m 150 percent sure I’ll be here next season,” Rodgers said.

“There is probably a lot more made of the review than what it actually is. I’m constantly reviewing with the owners. There is nothing different. People want to write about a review, there have been a number of reviews and throughout the season I’ve had great communication with the owners.”

However, speaking after Liverpool’s worst defeat in 52 years, Rodgers seemed all but certain that he will remain.

“I’ve always said that if the owners want me to go, then I go. It’s as simple as that.”

Rodgers is still adamant that he is the best man for the job.

“I still feel I’ve got a lot to offer the club. A lot has happened this year which has made the job difficult but I totally understand that.”

The embarrassing defeat means Liverpool has now finished the season in 6th behind Tottenham Hotpurs. Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to complain about the management and desire of the team’s performance.

Rodgers has offered an apology to fans for the defeat.

“Last season, when things were working well, we had the support of everyone but performances like today do not help that and I fully understand that. For everybody connected with Liverpool, we are all embarrassed by that today. We have to be much better than that. They (the fans) deserve an apology.”

Brendan Rodgers must now wait until his annual meeting with the owners to find out whether or not he will remain as Liverpool manager. For now, a considerable percentage of Liverpool fans have given up and have now calling for his exit.
