Just a few years ago, it was hard to imagine Chris Pratt as one of GQ‘s Men of the Year. The distinction, while not always going to the most athletic of famed actors, was at least usually reserved for those of them who commanded a certain amount of name recognition. Chris was largely unknown outside of his role on Parks and Recreation, and if you didn’t watch Pratt there it was unlikely that you knew him at all.
How things have changed in such a short period of time. Last year, Chris made the premiere men’s magazine’s coveted list, and now he’s on the cover of this month’s issue. As GQ pointed out when praising him last year, Pratt starred in the first and third highest grossing movies of 2014: Guardians of the Galaxy and The LEGO Movie. Even though the look he took on for the new role might have earned him a reputation that he hadn’t anticipated, Chris tells GQ that his wife Anna Farris would love him either way.
“I think I was outwardly having more fun. I was more fun to be around, probably. That image that I was casting, to convince people that I was okay, was a really fun person to hang around. Now I have less fun. I focus more. She doesn’t get to cook for me the way she used to. I was like a great pet fat guy.”
Still, it seems like Chris Pratt hasn’t lost any of his signature goofiness. You can watch him clown around this behind the scenes video for his cover shoot where he downs Fireball whisky before giving some acting tips.
