Erika Van Pelt Voted Off ‘American Idol’ [Video]

Erica Van Pelt will not be America’s next Idol. The singer was voted off “American Idol” last night after singing her version of Billy Joel’s “New York State of Mind.”

Van Pelt completely redid her look before stepping out onto the stage for what would be her final performance.

The 26-year-old singer chopped off her blonde locks and dyed her hair black. But the new look wasn’t enough to save her, despite the fact that her performance impressed the judges.

Randy Jackson said:

“I think you’re are one of the best singers in this whole thing this season.”

But even though Jackson was impressed, he decided not to use his one “save” to keep Van Pelt on the show. Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler also stood by as Van Pelt was voted off “American Idol.”

Do you think Erika Van Pelt deserved to stay on “American Idol?”

Thursday’s show featured several Billy Joel songs as well as performances by Lana Del Ray and former “Idol” contestant Haley Reinhart.
