Val Chmerkovskiy Apologizes For Dissing Derek Hough: Did He Hurt Rumer Willis’ Chances Of Winning ‘DWTS?’
Val Chmerkovskiy is doing damage control after saying something about Derek Hough that upset Dancing with the Stars fans. Unfortunately, the damage may already be done, and his big mouth might hurt Rumer Willis’ chances of getting her hands on that golden mirror ball trophy.
According to Gossip Cop, Val Chmerkovskiy dissed Derek Hough and Nastia Liukin in a video package that aired during the results show on Tuesday night. Val gave the couple a backhanded compliment by saying that they’re “so perfect that it makes them a bit uninteresting.” Derek and Nastia were eliminated Tuesday night, so Val’s words just added insult to injury.
As the Inquisitr previously reported, Derek Hough was not happy about Val’s comment, and he confronted him about it after the video package aired. Many Dancing with the Stars fans were also less than impressed with Val’s words, and it looks like the pro dancer didn’t just hurt Derek’s feelings — he also hurt Rumer Willis by turning off potential voters. Fans who would usually vote for Derek and Nastia are looking for a new couple to root for, and it looks like Val’s comment helped many of them make their choice.

Val Chmerkovskiy apologized to Nastia Liukin in person, and he later responded to the fan backlash by tweeting an apology that everyone could see.

It might be too little too late, but perhaps Val can make a quick recovery. As the Inquisitr previously reported, Rumer Willis made some rather cocky-sounding comments early on in the season, and they didn’t stop her from making it to the finale. Rumer is also getting support from someone who probably isn’t Val’s biggest fan right now — according to SheKnows, Nastia Liukin has revealed that she’s rooting for Rumer. She let Rumer know that she wants to be friends in a sweet Instagram post.
