Rumors of Patrick Dempsey’s inappropriate behavior on the set of Grey’s Anatomy are flying around the internet this week. Reports claim that the actor, who played Dr. Derek Shepherd on the show for a decade, was fired due to a relationship he was having with one of his co-workers.
Wonderwall reports that Patrick Dempsey had a fling with one of the Grey’s Anatomy crew members. The inappropriate relationship didn’t sit well with many of Dempsey’s other co-workers, including his co-star and onscreen wife Ellen Pompeo, who is a close friend of Patrick’s soon-to-be ex-wife, Jillian Fink.
“[Ellen] found out and was angry because she’s close friends with Jillian, so of course, she told her. Patrick found out that Ellen told his wife about the relationship and totally lost it. They had a huge blowup on the set in front of everyone. There was tension in Patrick and Ellen’s relationship for years before the final blowup. [She] was sick of his behavior on and off set.”
After the crazy on-set fight, Ellen Pompeo reportedly told the show’s creator, Shonda Rhimes, about Patrick Dempsey’s inappropriate behavior and relationship, which prompted Shonda to fire her leading man from the show that launched her career.
“Shonda has no patience for that kind of behavior. Shonda fired Patrick. He didn’t want to leave… Producers didn’t want him causing trouble.”
In the past, Shonda Rhimes has fired and killed off beloved characters from Grey’s Anatomy because of behavioral problems or big egos. Katherine Heigl, who played Izzy Stevens on the series, was written off the show because of her notorious bad attitude and clashing with Rhimes. The character of Dr. Burke was also written off after actor Isaiah Washington used a gay slur.
As previously reported by the Inquisitr , in true Grey’s Anatomy fashion, Derek Shepherd was killed off in a dramatic way, and now fans are furious that the series killed off the leading man. Some fans are even boycotting the show after being loyal viewers for 10 years.
As for the identify of Patrick Dempsey’s allegedly on set romance, OK! Magazine reports that it’s not being revealed who the woman was, just that she was a member of the crew and that she was younger than the actor, who is currently going through a divorce.
