Katy Perry, Gene Simmons Insult Beyonce, Rihanna

It seems as though musicians everywhere are throwing stones and starting feuds these days. Gene Simmons, who has had a career full of controversy all his own, had a few choice words to say about the music industry recently, and called out Rihanna specifically as an example of “fake bullsh**” in music.

During an announcement detailing an upcoming tour co-headlining KISS and Motley Crue, Simmons specifically stated that the rockers on the tour would be keeping it real. “We’re sick and tired of girls getting up there with dancers and karaoke tapes in back of them,” Simmons said at a press conference. “No fake bull***t. Leave that to the Rihanna, Shmianna, and anyone who ends their name with an ‘A.'” Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee seemed to agree with Simmons in a later interview with Billboard, though had no criticism for Rihanna, calling her “a great singer,” but stated that the world needs “some personality and appeal” beyond the “watered down … pop stuff” filling the popular waves.

There’s still more bitterness to behold! Katy Perry, with whom Rihanna is planning a duet, had some of her own criticism to mete out according to Us. The recently divorced singer took a subtle dig at Beyonce and Shakira, saying that she desires her collaboration with Rihanna to be along the lines of “Sisters Are Doin’ It for Themselves,” by the Eurythmics and Aretha Franklin. What Perry doesn’t want it to sound like? “Beautiful Liar,” by Beyonce and Shakira. “How disappointed would you be if that song came out and it’s no good?” she said. “Sometimes you have to wait for greatness.”
