Shonda Rhimes’ Newest Show ‘The Catch’ Gets A Sneak Peek [Video]

ABC recently announced their fall 2015 lineup. It’s no surprise that one of their new shows includes yet another riveting female driven show by Shonda Rhimes. After all, the creator has three shows on the network — Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, and How To Get Away With Murder.

The Catch seems to have that familiar magic that sets Rhimes’ Shondaland productions apart from the rest. Lead by The Killings’ Mireille Enos, the thriller focuses on Alice Martin, who is a fraud investigator whose life is turned upside down when she gets a dose of her own medicine when her fiancé, Kieran (Damon Dayoub), cons her.

Here’s a brief overview of the show, courtesy of the Hollywood Reporter.

“The Catch is described as a thriller about a woman about to get married and about to get conned. Unbeknownst to her slippery fiance, the heroine — who investigates fraud for a living — is not all she claims to be. And when the fiance’s expertly planned con collides with her perfectly constructed lies, they plunge into a dangerous game of cat and mouse. The show is based on the novel by Kate Atkinson.”

Enos’ Alice is described as a “feisty woman with a nervy spirit” which sounds right in line when compared to popular characters Meredith Grey (Grey’s Anatomy) and Olivia Pope (Scandal).

“She is clean and a minimalist. She is also a tough, competent woman who is run over by worry and exhaustion. Her entire life is dedicated to work as a forensic accountant in Chicago.”

The show also stars One Tree Hill’s Bethany Joy Lenz, Rose Rollins, Alimi Ballard, and Jay Hayden.

If the initial response is any indication, it looks like Shonda has yet another hit on her hands.
