Kendall Jenner is making headlines again, but it’s not about her modeling career or dating life. It’s about what she’s wearing that’s raising eyebrows. Kendall was spotted wearing a Confederate flag T-shirt on Mother’s Day.
Jenner, 19, sparked some new controversy by wearing a Southern flag that’s rooted with hate, racism, and other negative connotations. The reality star and model was photographed wearing a T-shirt featuring the Confederate flag as she was filling her Range Rover SUV with gas on Sunday. Jenner opted to wear a Lynyrd Skynyrd crop top with white skinny jeans and nude cutout stilettos.
The tee included the Confederate flag, also called the Dixie flag or the “rebel flag,” which is often known as a symbol of Southern pride. The flag is also rooted with racist connotations since it’s an icon of white supremacy and slavery. The Confederate flag has also been used as a symbol by hate groups like the Klu Klux Klan, according to a Gossip Cop report.
Kendall probably thought her T-shirt was cool to wear since it features Lynyrd Skynyrd on it. She has been photographed wearing band T-shirts before. She probably didn’t think anything about the Southern flag that was featured on it, as a Hollywood Life report noted. The T-shirt also featured the “Southern cross,” which is a symbol that the Klu Klux Klan often uses.
Several users on Twitter have expressed their disappointment that Kendall Jenner would wear the Confederate flag. Both fans and the media agree that the model should go back to the school or at least read an American history book.
To be fair, there's a good chance Kendall Jenner has no idea what a confederate flag is…

Lynyrd Skynyrd is trying to distance themselves from the racist symbol, even though it’s still being displayed on their merchandise. The band has not decided to remove the problematic flag. Instead, they want to continue using it on their T-shirts and performances. The classic rock band took to Facebook to comment on the controversy surrounding the Confederate Flag.
“We know what the Dixie flag represents and its heritage; the Civil War was fought over States rights. We still utilize the Confederate (Rebel) flag on stage every night in our shows, we are and always will be a Southern American Rock band, first and foremost.”
Kanye West also received his share of controversy for wearing a Confederate flag jacket. During a trip to Barneys in 2013, the rapper told the reporters “It’s my flag now” when asked about his insensitive fashion statement. He also featured the Confederate flag on his Yeezy concert tees. The rapper also took one step further by featuring a skull wearing a Native American headdress on some of his other T-shirts.
Kendall Jenner has not spoken out about the controversy surrounding her Confederate flag T-shirt.
