Gigi Hadid Calls It Quits On Her Two Year Relationship With Cody Simpson

According to a report by E! News, Gigi Hadid and Cody Simpson have split after two years of dating. A rep of the 20-year-old confirmed the split on Saturday morning and noted that the couple was just finding it too difficult to make time for one another with their busy schedules. Along with the information came the insistence by the rep that the two “bear no hard feelings and are committed to remaining friends.”

The Daily Mail offered an expanded explanation provided by the rep.

“Cody and Gigi want each other to be in a place right now that allows [Cody] to only focus on his music, fans, and new message, while she can focus and continue building her career. They love each other dearly and have split up in hopes that growing on their own paths will bring them together in the future.”

The couple experienced a similar split back in May, 2014, just a year after they had begun their romance. So perhaps this break up isn’t a forever decision after all for the young lovers.

The couple appeared very much in love while they attended Coachella in style back in April. Gigi and Cody were inseparable and appeared to be solid, however, often times it is the distance and hectic obligations of the celebrity world that drives star couples apart.

As People notes “The Aussie singer-songwriter, 18, is gearing up to release his first independent album, Free. Meanwhile, model Hadid, 20, is balancing high-fashion ad campaigns and will appear in pal Taylor Swift’s upcoming ‘Bad Blood’ music video.” Both have clearly got their sights set on a multitude of endeavors.

There were definite signs that the distance and busy schedules of the duo were making things a bit rocky within their relationship. One such sign came back in March by way of a Victoria’s Secret event in Miami at which Cody Simpson communicated with People that he and Gigi were “in a good place,” yet added that distance can definitely strain any relationship.

The remainder of his words demonstrate the level-headed approach both had when it came to their relationship.

“It’s give and take – you’ve got to have a certain trust. You build something, and for us, it’s been sustainable. [We’re] very supportive of each other, she’s stoked for me, and it’s mutual.”

Unfortunately the sustainability has not entirely lasted for the pair and the immediate report is that Gigi and Cody have in fact called it quits.
