‘Game Of Thrones’ Is Set To Become A Darker Place For Theon Greyjoy

HBO’s Game of Thrones has had a run of bad luck this season, first with the four episodes of Season 5 leaked and now with images for upcoming episodes also revealed. But, according to Alfie Allen (Game of Thrones actor and brother ot famous singer Lily Allen), for his character, Theon Greyjoy, things could potentially get a lot worse for him as well.

When interviewed recently for the Hollywood Reporter, the actor revealed that the advent of Sansa Stark in Winterfell could bring back memories of his betrayal to the Stark family. This could result in life going either way for Theon.

“There have been so many changes to the character throughout the seasons. His destiny had always been decided for him. He’s always gone to these very dark places… In terms of could it go darker, could it go lighter? It’s interesting to see what [showrunners] David [Benioff] and Dan [Weiss] are going to come up with next. If it goes darker, then for me as an actor, that’s something I can tackle.”

Theon (also known as Reek by his sadistic captor, Ramsey Snow) got a scant peek of Sansa in a previous episode of Game of Thrones, but will Sansa’s wedding and her betrothed, Ramsey Snow, wanting Theon to walk her down the aisle bring his past back to haunt him? And how will Sansa react to the man who brought about the untimely death of her two brothers — albeit faked by Theon — and her family home being taken from her?

According to Alfie Allen, Theon has always struggled with his betrayal of the Stark family. Considering they raised him (even if he was, technically, a prisoner of war), and he did appear to have actual affections for his surrogate siblings, his betrayal in the Greyjoy name — a betrayal that left both his blood family and his surrogate family despising him — will always torture Theon in Game of Thrones.

“Those are feelings that are coming up again. He’ll always be dealing with those. But it was definitely addressed in season three, and then again in season four with the shaving scene, so I guess it’s everlasting.”

You can watch the Episode 5 trailer for Season 5 of Game of Thrones below. While this teaser doesn’t reveal anything specifically to Theon Greyjoy, there is an interesting scene where Ramsey is being intimate with a woman — could this impact Theon’s life somehow?
