‘Ultimate Survival Alaska’: Jimmy Gojdics Shot, Killed In His Alaska Home

Ultimate Survival Alaska star Jimmy Gojdics was shot and killed inside his home in Fairbanks, Alaska, over the weekend. According to TMZ, the 69-year-old reality star was found in “grave condition” inside his home on Sunday, and was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. Authorities are treating this as a homicide but say that they do not have any suspects at this time. There is an ongoing investigation underway, and many hope that there are answers soon.

It’s unclear why someone would want this man dead, or if this was an intentional shooting, but police are working diligently to get everything sorted out. They have enlisted the help of the Alaska Bureau of Investigation in hopes of tying up the loose ends in this case.

According to the New York Daily News, Gojdics, who sometimes spelled his name Gaydos as it is pronounced, competed on the second season of the National Geographic reality show last year but was unable to finish out the season due to an injury.

“We were saddened to learn of Mr. Gaydos’s untimely passing and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this difficult time,” said National Geographic spokesman Chad Sandhas.

Although Gojdics didn’t have any family, he had a lot of friends. Those who got to know him really liked him, and he made many good friends over the years.

“Everyone was his friend and he met someone everywhere,” said Janine Carlson who knew Jimmy for 12 years.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Gojdics grew up in New York. He spent much of his life traveling and would spend his winters in South America. However, “home” for him was in Alaska — and he really seemed to love it there. Of course, as an avid fisherman, Alaska was just the right place for him. He enjoyed being a river and wilderness guide, and has always been a fan of the great outdoors.

He referred to himself as a “survivalist,” which is defined as “a person who advocates or practices survivalism; especially one who has prepared to survive in the anarchy of an anticipated breakdown of society,” according to Merriam-Webster.

The fact that Ultimate Survival Alaska star Jimmy Gojdics was shot dead came as a surprise to many people, especially his fans. Many appreciated his character and got to know him through television, and news of his tragic death is simply shocking. Hundreds have posted on social media, expressing their sadness and their condolences.
