Sheryl Sandberg’s Husband Dave Goldberg, Killed In Accident, Honored On Facebook By Grieving Wife
Facebook Chief Operating Officer (COO) Sheryl Sandberg honored her husband Dave Goldberg, who died unexpectedly after a freak accident, on her public page following his funeral.
Still in shock, the grieving executive took to Facebook to thank family and friends for their support during these difficult days. Goldberg was reportedly killed when he fell off a treadmill and hit his head, at the resort the couple was spending their vacation in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
Sheryl Sandberg’s husband died suddenly on Friday night at 47-years-old, according to a statement released on Facebook by his brother-in-law, Robert.
“It’s with incredible shock and sadness that I’m letting our friends and family know that my amazing brother, Dave Goldberg, beloved husband of Sheryl Sandberg, father of two wonderful children, and son of Paula Goldberg, passed away suddenly last night. In this time of sorrow, we mourn his passing and remember what an amazing husband, father, brother, son and friend he was.”
As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Sheryl Sandberg’s husband, Dave Goldberg started his career in the music industry, but eventually ended up working at the search engine Yahoo where he met his future wife. The SurveyMonkey executive is described as “a successful entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and technology and music industry executive. He has run, and successfully grown, several online consumer businesses,” according to the company’s biography.
In her moving Facebook statement, Sheryl Sandberg talked about how she met her husband Dave and they became best friends.
“I met Dave nearly 20-years ago when I first moved to LA. He became my best friend. He showed me the internet for the first time, planned fun outings, took me to temple for the Jewish holidays, introduced me to much cooler music than I had ever heard.”
“We had 11 truly joyful years of the deepest love, happiest marriage, and truest partnership that I could imagine… He gave me the experience of being deeply understood, truly supported and completely and utterly loved – and I will carry that with me always. Most importantly, he gave me the two most amazing children in the world.”
“Dave was my rock. When I got upset, he stayed calm. When I was worried, he said it would be ok. When I wasn’t sure what to do, he figured it out. He was completely dedicated to his children in every way – and their strength these past few days is the best sign I could have that Dave is still here with us in spirit.”
According to Facebook creator, Mark Zuckerberg, Sheryl Sandberg is requesting privacy as she mourns the loss of her husband Dave Goldberg.
