At the moment, the production camp of Barbershop 3 has not released any details regarding its plot, so it is still unknown whether Minaj is going to have another bit part like the one she played in her previous movie. In The Other Woman, she took on the role of Cameron Diaz’s outspoken assistant. Whether she is playing another bit role or not, including Minaj is a wise move for the movie franchise.

Over the past few months, Barbershop 3 has reportedly been collecting some new faces to add to their cast. Critics think that this is because they are looking for new fans. After being unsuccessful with its spin-off Beauty Shop, the movie franchise has experienced a drawback. To make a comeback, they are seeking help from fresh faces, and with Minaj as part of their cast, surely younger fans will be drawn to watching the comedy.
The movie franchise features the day-to-day events occurring at a barbershop located on the south side of Chicago. Although Barbershop 3 is already its third installment, this is the first time that director Malcolm D. Lee will be working with the film. He is the third director that will be handling the movie franchise, following his predecessors Tim Story and Kevin Rodney Sullivan.

The Barbershop franchise had humble beginnings. Its first installment was made with only $12 million but successfully raked in a worldwide revenue of $77 million when it was released. Its sequel, Barbershop 2: Back in Business, was made with a higher budget of $30 million. It only made $65 million worldwide, but the number is still quite respectable. The movie franchise only saw its downfall with its spinoff Beauty Shop, which only made $37 million on its global release.
In the music industry, Nicki Minaj is a renowned female artist who has made three albums since her debut in 2010. She started her film career with a voice part in the animated film Ice Age: Continental Drift.
