The Surprising Way Bill Cosby Handled Last Show Interruptions

On May 2, Bill Cosby wrapped up his “Far from Finished” comedy tour at the Cobb Energy Centre in Atlanta. Crowds of protesters and show interruptions were expected due to two more recent allegations of rape and sexual assault directed toward Bill Cosby.

According to CNN, a group planning to interrupt Bill Cosby during his last show on the tour had sent out a press release, and so the Cosby team was well aware of these intentions. At the beginning of the show, Cosby fans were warned not to confront individuals who tried to cause interruptions.

The first interruption came around 20 minutes into the performance. One man’s loud yelling of “seemingly incoherent one-liners” had Bill Cosby shooing away security and involving the man in his act.

“Do you have 40 more minutes of this?”

The second interruption of Bill Cosby’s last “Far from Finished” show came a mere 20 minutes later. While Cosby was in the middle of a routine about his mother, one woman began shouting at the long-time comedian.

“It beats me how you treat — the way you treat women!”

Though the lady was met with boos from the loyal crowd of Bill Cosby fans, Bill quieted the audience and let the woman speak, again shooing away the security that would have subdued her. In his typical manner, Bill Cosby addressed her with calm.

“This is our show, and it’ll be over soon.”

A related report by the Inquisitr states that the interrupters were escorted from the venue.

Though Bill Cosby has been accused by scores of women for drugged rape and sexual assault, oddly the majority of the allegations have come many years or even decades after the supposed attacks. In fact, the statute of limitations has run out on most of them. Bill Cosby has not been charged on any counts of any type of sexual misconduct, assault, or rape. Cosby has claimed his innocence in the face of accusations that have been called “discredited” and “decades old.” A statement from his attorney, John P. Schmitt, states the subject will be discussed no further by Bill Cosby or his team.

“Over the last several weeks, decade-old, discredited allegations against Mr. Cosby have resurfaced. The fact that they are being repeated does not make them true. Mr. Cosby does not intend to dignify these allegations with any comment. He would like to thank all his fans for the outpouring of support and assure them that, at age 77, he is doing his best work. There will be no further statement from Mr. Cosby or any of his representatives.”

While a large portion of people side with the women, Bill Cosby still has his fair share of supporters. According to Variety, fellow comedian Eddie Murphy had the opportunity to portray Cosby in a negative light on the 40th Anniversary Special of Saturday Night Live, but he turned it down. SNL buddy Norm MacDonald commented on Murphy’s reasoning.

“He knew the laughs would bring the house down. (But) Eddie decides the laughs are not worth it. He will not kick a man when he is down.”

How do you feel about Bill Cosby? Have the recent allegations changed the way you feel about him?
