David Beckham Amasses 4.6 Million Instagram Followers in 48 hours, Celebrates 40th Birthday [Photos]

David Beckham is somebody to pay attention to, at least to the 4.6 million Instagram followers he gleaned in just under 48 hours. Beckham’s fans are rejoicing today because the ex-soccer star finally joined Instagram on May 2, to celebrate his 40th birthday, racking up the impressive number of followers after only 12 posts.

For his first post, Becks treated his new followers to an intimate photo of him snuggling in bed, and posted “Good morning and hello! It’s great to finally be in Instagram, been a long time coming but I can’t wait to start sharing all my special moments with you. Thank you for all your birthday messages so far. Looking forward to a great day with friends and family x.”

Beckham then jetted off to Morocco where his wife, Victoria Beckham, threw him a luxurious birthday bash at a resort in Marakesh. The party, which reportedly cost ₤250,000 according to the Daily Mail, turned into an impromptu Spice Girls reunion when Mel C., Emma Bunton, and Geri Halliwell arrived, prompting David to take a slew of photos with Victoria’s former band mates.

David uploaded the photos of him with the party girls to his Instagram account, letting followers know “great to see these shy and retiring ladies. Never a dull moment.” Mel B. was not in attendance since she’s busy with her role on America’s Got Talent, and there’s speculation that Victoria doesn’t like Mel B.’s husband, Stephen Belafonte.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Victoria Beckham tried to keep the party in line with the famous footballer’s tastes, going all out on decor, including not just one, but four red velvet cakes with red raspberries, which followers can see on Beckham’s Instagram page. David posted “what a special and amazing night to be with the people I love.”

Instagram followers of Beckham can also see photos of a smiling David wearing a black fedora, surrounded by presents, and David requested televisions to be installed so the partiers could watch “the fight of the century” between Mayweather and Pacquiao. He also treated his Instagram followers to photos showing a table full of party hats, with a “Happy Birthday” banner in the background, according to E! Online.

The night was obviously fun-filled, as David posted a selfie the next day captioned “someone is trying to make daddy feel pretty today after a heavy night.” He’s also posted an obligatory food photo, and we now know that David Beckham had eggs and bacon for breakfast, after he posted a photo this morning.
