Dwight Howard To Stay With Magic

Dwight Howard will remain a member of the Orlando Magic for at least one more year. Howard waived the early termination option from his contract today and will remain with the Magic through the 2012-2013 season.

Howard has been going back and forth about his future with the Magic since the start of the season. Yahoo Sports reports that Howard asked to be traded during the pre-season this year. Howard repeatedly changed his mind about whether or not he wanted to stay with the Magic.

Yesterday, he told his team that he would be back next season but later said that he wouldn’t waive the early termination option for the 2012 season. Howard said that he wanted to be allowed to enter free agency on July 1st, but then changed his mind again and signed the waiver.

The Orlando star knows that he’s created a bit of a circus and apologized for the confusion last night. Howard said that he had received some bad advice leading up to the trade deadline. Howard told Real GM:

“This has been a very hard time. For me, my family and all of us. The fans deserve a better hero, and I will make that happen. I love and appreciate my fans and this city… I apologize for this circus I have caused to the fans of our city. They didn’t deserve none of this.”

Howard’s agent, Kevin Samples, told the Orlando Sentinel:

“He is giving up all of his leverage and his free agency in a show of commitment to his team and most importantly the fans of Orlando.”

Do you think Dwight Howard made the right decision? Are you happy that he at least made a decision?
