Patrick Dempsey Lists His Malibu Mansion For $14.5 Million

Patrick Dempsey is selling his Malibu Mansion and has it listed for a whopping $14.5 million.

Less than a week after the shocking death of Dempsey’s character Derick Shepherd on Grey’s Anatomy, he and his estranged wife Jillian have decided to sell their Frank Gehry-designed Malibu estate.

The home sits on 3.2 acres and was dubbed the “Tin House” for its corrugated metal construction. The lot includes a rock climbing wall, a large lawn, and a four-stall horse barn.

“We were looking for a little land and space, and a house with some architectural significance,” Patrick told Architectural Digest of his search for a home five years ago. “The exterior’s simplicity appealed to me, and the inside felt very expansive and calming. Everywhere you looked there was something visually pleasing.”

The mansion measures 5,547 square feet and is complete with three bedrooms, three and a half baths, an office and a second-story family room. The interior of the home was designed by Estee Stanley, who designed their previous home.

“Estee’s work has a feminine vibe that brings a second energy to the tougher, more muscular forms of the architecture,” Patrick said. “She’s also very attuned to the kind of soulful antiques and art we love to collect.”

According to the Wall Street Journal, Patrick and Julian purchased the home in 2009 for $7 million and remodeled it to fit their family of five — the couple, who filed for divorce in January, have three children together.

“What’s great about it is you know where everyone is in the house,” he said of the open design. “There’s no separation. You don’t lose your kids… I like the intimacy, even with the great volume you have here.”

“This is a family home and we want it to be inviting and comfortable and casual and relaxed so you’re not uptight about things,” Dempsey added.
