Michael Hossack, Doobie Brothers Drummer, Dies At 65


Michael Hossack, the drummer for the Doobie Brothers, passed away after a long battle with cancer on Monday at his home in Dubois, Wyoming. He was 65-years-old.

Hossack was a member of the Doobie Brothers from 1971 and 1973. The Huffington Post reports that Hossack played the drums on classic Doobie Brothers’ tracks like “Jesus Is Just Alright,” “Listen to the Music” and “China Grove.” Hossack reunited with the band in 1987 to play a benefit concert for war veterans.

After the reunion concert, Hossack started to tour with the band. He played with the Doobie Brothers for the next two decades but had to leave the band in 2010 due to his health.

The Doobie Brothers posted an official statement on their website:

“We’re posting this to confirm the sad news that’s been circulating very quickly. Doobie Brothers drummer Michael Hossack passed away yesterday in Dubois, Wyoming, at the age of 65. His family was by his side. Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family and loved ones. We will miss him greatly.”
