Prince Harry And The World Are Waiting For The New Prince — Or Princess!
Prince Harry can’t wait to meet the new little prince (or princess), but Harry also couldn’t wait in England for the royal baby to make an appearance. With Kate overdue and the army calling, Prince Harry had to leave England and return to duty in Australia, followed by an official visit to New Zealand.
“A disappointed Prince Harry will tonight fly out of the UK to Australia without seeing his new niece or nephew. With the Duchess of Cambridge now overdue for the birth of her second child, the prince will not be able to meet the new royal baby until he returns to this country in mid May.”
He’s not the only one excited about the new princess (or prince). Sometimes it seems like the whole world is wound up with waiting anxiety!

Although Prince Harry didn’t have a choice in the matter of staying or going, there are lots of other choices to be made by his brother, Prince William, sister-in-law the Duchess of Cambridge, and all the royal medical team. First the Prince and Duchess had to choose a hospital for the birth. David Cameron, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, defends their choice of a private facility, Lindo Wing, in St Mary’s Hospital.
“I think it’s a total matter of choice for people — what they use and where they have their babies. I believe in choice, I believe in people being able to do what they want to do.”
Now, the doctors have to decide whether to induce labor. There was some talk that they might induce before Prince Harry left so that the two princes (or one prince and a princess!) could meet. That didn’t happen, but a source whose own children were born at Lindo wing thinks the decision has probably been made.
“The doctors don’t normally wait for more than a week. They will probably already have been in touch with Kate, and talked about which day would suit her best to go in and be induced if the baby doesn’t arrive in the next couple of days.”
There are choices for the gamblers out there too. Betting on the birth date, the sex, and the name of the new prince or princess is brisk business in the UK. The top girl’s names include Alice, and of course Diana, with some British subjects expressing strong feelings on the subject. James, Arthur, and Alexander are favored for boys, but not Harry, however devoted Uncle Prince Harry is.
But like they say, what’s in a name? Well, possibly a lot of money for the winning bettor, and either ecstasy or something close to grief for the Diana fans of the world.
“If Kate Middleton has a baby girl and doesn’t name her Diana I’ll be so upset.”
