Bruno Mars is one of Australian songwriter Sia’s two top choices to sing her new song. The other is Maroon 5. Good choices!
“I’m trying to pitch that to Maroon 5 or Bruno Mars. It’s called ‘Step By Step.'”
And right now, Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk” is still on top of the charts, where it’s been for 14 (count ’em 14!) weeks, with only Maroon 5’s “Sugar” and Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again” challenging for the title of longest running hit of all time. Bruno Mars’ song is already the longest running hit of the decade. So, Sia has a big decision ahead of her and she’s taking it step by step.
Sia is used to writing songs that other people sing, and that’s what she likes best.
“I was planning to be a pop song writer for other artists. But my publishing deal was as an artist so I had to put one more album out. I didn’t want to get famous so I kept all the songs I wanted and had a lot of fun making it.”
She says she’s having a bunch of fun with her upcoming album, too.
I’m super productive. I have a full album ready to go and it’s much more pop,” Sia said. “I’m calling it This Is Acting because they are songs I was writing for other people, so I didn’t go in thinking ‘this is something I would say.’ It’s more like play-acting. It’s fun
No wonder Bruno Mars is topping Sia’s hit list. Bruno’s music is a lot of fun. “Uptown Funk” is proof that Mars reaches a huge and diverse audience. It’s been parodied for pet adoption, and doughnut recipes (um, “Dunk Your Nuts.” But it’s clean if a bit too sugary. And if don’t believe me? Just watch!); for basketball and Harry Potter fans. The Dark Lord would approve!
And of course, with a name like Mars, space geeks just had to get involved with Bruno’s music. Cinesaurus stepped up.
“Why did we make this video?”
“Well, first off, we here at Cinesaurus really love getting amped by dope music, especially when it has a good message. Second, we are huge fans of SpaceX and everything they are doing here on Earth and in Space to get us to other planets. We like to do anything we can to help support space science and think you should too!”
