Kim Richards: Dr. Phil Intervention Fails But Kim Enters Rehab After Drunken Arrest, Sobriety Clause [Video]

Kim Richards stormed off Dr. Phil MacGraw’s show when the TV doctor tried to do an intervention that included a grilling about her claims that she has stayed sober. Although the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills reality TV personality refused Dr. Phil’s help to get to rehab, she’s decided to do it her way by checking herself into a treatment center, according to TMZ.

The rehab facility is located in Malibu and focuses on substance abuse. Kim talked with her family after she melted down in front of her children on Dr. Phil’s show, and they agreed with her decision to seek professional help.

However, the decision to head to rehab follows a dramatic scene which raised questions about her claims that she had remained sober. Taking place at the chic Beverly Hills Hotel, the situation concluded with Kim’s arrest for public intoxication. In addition to the charges of public drunkenness, Kim was charged with kicking a police officer and resisting arrest.

No time limit was given for her stay at rehab.

“As long as it takes,” said a source.

As the Inquisitr reported, Bravo (which produces the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills) reportedly has established a sobriety clause that required Kim to seek treatment.

In addition to stipulating that Richards get professional help, she must submit to regular drug testing, which will not always be scheduled.

As for what caused Kim to storm out of the Dr. Phil interview, she first broke down into tears recalling the sequence of events leading up to her arrest, reported MSN.

“I’m beating myself up over this,” confessed Kim, crying.

But she then revealed that she did start to drink.

“I poured a drink of vodka, and I thought, ‘Oh my god, what have I done?'” recalled Richards.

Dr. Phil intensified his line of questioning, focusing on her claims that she has been sober for three years. He also attacked her ability to play the role of parent to her children.

“Are you living a lie telling everybody I’ve been sober for three years? You are drunk in a bar fighting with a cop. That is not good mothering!”

Kim’s children joined her to attempt to stage the intervention, reported the Daily Mail.

The 50-year-old reality TV star has four children. However, while 29-year-old Brooke, 22-year-old Chad, and 20-year-old Kimberly did show up to support their mother, Kim’s 23-year-old daughter, Whitney, did not attend the intervention.
