Angelina Jolie Thinks Warlord Joseph Kony Is A ‘Horrible Human Being’

American actress and director Angelina Jolie, who made her screen debut in the 1982 film Lookin’ To Get Out, serves as Goodwill Ambassador to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. Angelina expressed her disgust for warlord Joseph Kony when she told the U.K.’s The Telegraph:

“[Kony]’s an extraordinarily horrible human being.”

Joseph Kony, leader of the Lord’s Resistance Army, was recently highlighted in a documentary video called Kony 2012. The documentary, which went viral within days with well over 65 million YouTube views at the time of writing, was launched by a San Diego nonprofit known as Invisible Children, Incorporated and has caused quite a commotion both online and off.

Angelina Jolie conveyed to Extra that her inspiration was derived from witnessing such a large number of “young people rising up” in order to convey their support of Joseph Kony’s arrest. This certainly is not the first time Jolie has voiced her opinions on warlord Kony who is perhaps best known for his having forced thousands of children to fight as child soldiers on his behalf.

In an interview with Nightline anchor Cynthia McFadden back in 2010, Jolie told McFadden that there exist a “few bad people” that she would “be tempted” to take down. In regards to Kony, she said:

“Joseph Kony, I hate him.”

Angelina Jolie has been tirelessly allocating her resources towards fighting on behalf of various humanitarian causes around the world from poverty to the conservation and protection of natural resources.

The evil that is Joseph Kony seems to know no limitations. Between killings, kidnappings, mutilations, tortures, child prostitution and child soldiers, Kony has certainly been hard at work employing his campaigns of terror targeting Sudan, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan, and Uganda. He has forced an estimated 66,000 children to fight as child soldiers.

For his crimes, the International Criminal Court indicted Kony on war crimes. Currently, Joseph Kony has evaded capture.
