TripAdvisor Reveals 2015’s Top 10 Best Islands In The World –The Number One Island Is …
TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel site, has released its 2015 Travelers’ Choice 2015 top 10 best islands in the world list. If you are in the market for a vacation, check out the locations below.
1. Providenciales, Turks and Caicos
Providenciales, more commonly known as “Provos,” is the most populated of the Turks and Caicos islands, according to Turks and Caicos Tourism. Provos is the perfect island to get away from the hustle and bustle of life, but also has “luxurious hotels, villas and condos, numerous restaurants, spas and shopping facilities, a championship caliber golf course, and full service grocery store,” located near Grace Bay, a beautiful 12-mile stretch of beaches.
2. Maui, United States
Maui, known as the “Valley Isle,” is the destination for nature lovers. Take the road to Hana, with 600 curves and 54 bridges, this is one of the world’s most scenic drives,” according to Go Hawaii. Discover the bamboo forest and churning waterfalls at the Haleakala National Park.
3. Roatan, Honduras
Rotan, the largest and most populated of the Bay Islands, is surrounded by the world’s second largest coral reef and is the ideal place to go scuba diving.
4. Santorini, Greece
Santorini is the most popular island in Greece. Visitors will discover beautiful beaches, spectacular scenery, ancient cities, amazing restaurants, some of the world’s best wine, and an active volcano.

Fernando De Noronha was declared a marine national park in 1988 and only allows 420 tourists on the island at any one time. It’s natural landscape includes towering rock sculptures, rushing waterfalls, and natural swimming pools.
So, how is the list determined? TravelAdvisor spokeswoman Julie Cassetina explained that it involves a variety of factors based on travelers’ experiences.
“Similar to last year and 2013, winning islands were determined using an algorithm that looked at the quality and quantity of traveler reviews and opinions for hotels, attractions and restaurants on each island gathered during a 12-month period,” she said, according to CNN.
