Mass Effect 3 Hit With Face Import Bug

Ever since Mass Effect 3 launched at midnight last night, fans have been reporting trouble importing their custom Shepard over to Mass Effect 3, with some reports saying that only a few facial features were lost, while others were faced with having to remake their Shepard entirely.

Fortunately, the glitch does not impact any of the decisions you made in the first two Mass Effect games–the glitch, while still quite a bit annoying, only seems to apply to Shepard’s facial features, with reports that all platforms are being affected.

BioWare’s Chris Priestly has since acknowledged the Mass Effect 3 import glitch on the BioWare forums, saying:

“We are aware that some players are having issues importing the faces of characters from Mass Effect 1 or Mass Effect 2 into Mass Effect 3. The issue is likely in how faces were detected when imported from Mass Effect 1 into Mass Effect 2, and we’re working on the best way to correct it for affected players.”

There’s currently no timeline from EA as to when Mass Effect 3 fans can expect a fix, but Priestly did point PC players to a fan-made tool, which Priestly says “may be able to help PC users in the short term.” You can find said tool at this link.
