‘Bringing Up Bates’ Engagement News: Michael And Brandon Set To Wed

There’s big news out for Bringing Up Bates fans, as Michael Bates and Brandon Keilen have just gotten engaged! This exciting news comes just days after the family shared that Alyssa and John Webster had welcomed baby Allie Jane to the world as well. With another baby due via Erin and Chad Paine in June, it’s shaping up to be a pretty exciting year for Gil and Kelly Jo Bates and their 19 kids.

Brandon and Michael, who often goes by Michaella, have been courting for some time now, so Bringing Up Bates fans knew an engagement was likely on the way soon. As the UP TV site shares, the proposal came when the two were in Great Falls, Virginia, together.

It seems that somewhat like what Ben Seewald did for Jessa Duggar on 19 Kids and Counting, Brandon put together a scavenger hunt for Michael. At the end of the hunt, Keilen got down on bended knee and asked Bates to marry him. Naturally, she said yes.

Parents from both sides were on hand to celebrate the big news, and it didn’t take long for word to spread to fans. Though the engagement news doesn’t come as a huge shock, Bringing Up Bates fans are thrilled to hear this news about the oldest Bates daughter. So far, Michael and Brandon haven’t detailed when the wedding will take place, but fans hope they won’t have to wait long for more details.

Brandon and Michael’s engagement comes just a few days after the news that Alyssa Bates and her husband, John Webster, had their first baby, Allie Jane. As Alyssa and John shared via Instagram, Allie came on April 11 and weighed 6 lbs, 11 oz. Allie is Gil and Kelly Jo Bates’ second grandchild, with Bradley being born to oldest son Zach and his wife, Whitney, last fall. Erin and Chad are expecting a baby boy, Carson, in June.

The Bates Family blog shares that Michael and Brandon officially began courting on December 30, 2013, a couple of months after Alyssa and John started their courtship. While Brandon and Michael are taking a somewhat slower path to getting married than Alyssa and John did, fans of the show and the family knew an engagement was bound to happen soon.

Season 2 of Bringing Up Bates premieres on UP TV in June, and there clearly will be a lot of fun family news to cover in these new episodes. Congratulations to Michael Bates and Brandon Keilen on their engagement!
