Taylor McKinney Loves Bentley Like ‘His Own Son,’ Claims ‘Teen Mom’ Maci Bookout

Taylor McKinney is expecting his first child with Teen Mom star Maci Bookout, and according to Bookout, she has no doubts in her boyfriend’s parenting abilities.

“He’s gonna be great,” Bookout said of Taylor McKinney during a Teen Mom OG: After Show.

“I already see it with how he is with Bentley. He loves Bentley like that’s he’s his own son. He’s an assistant coach on his little league team, and he’s always there for him.”

Taylor McKinney and Bookout have been dating for a number of years, and learned they were expecting in late 2014, just months after Taylor McKinney moved to Tennessee to be closer to Bookout. Prior to Taylor McKinney’s move, he was living in Dallas, and commuting often in order to spend time with his reality star girlfriend.

According to an April 15 report by Wetpaint Entertainment, Taylor McKinney has already had plenty of practice with Bentley. However, it hasn’t always been easy incorporating himself into the 6-year-old’s life.

“It’s been tough because Bentley has a lot of questions and sometimes Bentley struggles with, ‘Why is Taylor always here for me but my own dad isn’t?’ Sometimes I can see some sort of resentment from Bentley. Sometimes he’s just so confused that he’s like, ‘I don’t think I should like you because you’re not my dad.'”

While Taylor McKinney lives with Bookout and Bentley full-time, Bentley only sees his father, Ryan Edwards, at certain times, and, as Bookout has said, it’s not always easy getting Edwards to step up into a father role for her son.

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Bookout was less than thrilled with Edwards’ parenting after this week’s episode of Teen Mom OG. During the After Show, Taylor McKinney’s girlfriend claimed Bookout was only a parent when it was convenient for him.

“I think he cares when it’s convenient… When he has nothing better to do, and [then] some days he wakes up and I think he genuinely wants to be a good Dad and he really tries.”

Bookout went on to say Edwards often uses excuses to get out of his parental responsibilities.

Bookout and Edwards welcomed son Bentley in 2009, and split a short time later. As fans of the show have seen, the couple was briefly engaged during filming.

Bookout and Taylor McKinney will welcome their first child together, a baby girl, in July.
