Lena Dunham Uses Workout Selfie To Promote Exercising
Actress Lena Dunham surprised the world yet again on Saturday by showing off her body.
Unlike on her hit HBO series Girls, Dunham decided to take a different approach by posting a picture of herself wearing workout clothes.
The 28-year-old Golden Globe-winning actress struck a pose wearing a yellow sports bra and fashionable camouflage workout pants. She posted the impressive workout selfie on her official Instagram page Saturday.
What is even more impressive than the actual pose was the memorable caption that she posted along with it.
Lena Dunham began her inspirational message by explaining exactly why she has not allowed her busy work schedule to get in the way of her workout regimen.
“Promised myself I would not let exercise be the first thing to go by the wayside when I got busy with Girls Season 5 and here is why: it has helped with my anxiety in ways I never dreamed possible.”
Dunham then turned her attention to the many other people that are struggling with similar issues.
“To those struggling with anxiety, OCD, depression: I know it’s mad annoying when people tell you to exercise, and it took me about 16 medicated years to listen. I’m glad I did.”
Lena concluded her Instagram message with an empowering statement: “It ain’t about the a-s, it’s about the brain.”

Within the hashtags, the Girls actress states that it was “not sponsored,” possibly making it clear that she was not paid to post that particular message as an endorsement of sorts.
As the creator and leading lady of the hit HBO series, Girls, Lena has been able to inspire, empower, and encourage many people in one way or another – especially women.
“I think I just got lost in it all. And I didn’t hold on to the right stuff and I let my center move. And I just got lost.” #GirlsHBO
