Chris Brown and Rihanna to Duet on American Idol? [Rumor]

Rumor has it that Chris Brown and Rihanna are in talks with American Idol producers to appear together on the show, according to E! News. This… should end well.

Speculation about the two reuniting has been fired by Brown appearing on Rihanna’s ‘Birthday Cake (Remix)’ single. If they were to appear together on Idol, it would be their first live collaboration since 2008, when they performed at the Grammys.

E!’s insider says “the idea is still in the very early stages of discussion,” though Fox refused to comment when approached by E!. Meanwhile, Rihanna’s rep was more blunt when asked about the rumor, simply stating, “It’s not true.”

It’s now been three years since Brown was charged with the assault of his then-girlfriend Rihanna, leaving the star with facial injuries that required hospitalization.

Brown was slapped with a restraining order at the time, but in February 2011, at the request of Brown’s lawyer, the order was modified with Rihanna’s consent to a “level one order.” This allowed both singers to appear at awards shows together in the future. I’m guessing a duet may require some proximity.

What do you make of this then, readers? If the speculation is true (and let’s remind ourselves it is just a rumor right now), would you tune in to watch this slightly cringeworthy reunion?
