Fans can watch the Kentucky vs. Notre Dame basketball game live online and see if the Fighting Irish can pull off the upset of the year or whether the Wildcats will enter the Final Four unbeaten.
The teams face on Saturday with a spot to the 2015 Final Four on the line. Start time for the matchup is 8:49 p.m. from Cleveland, Ohio.
So far, the Kentucky Wildcats have amassed a 37-0 record while sailing through the NCAA Tournament and are seeking the first undefeated season since Indiana in 1976. But if any team knows about pulling off the near-impossible, it’s Notre Dame, who have some historic upsets, including ending the UCLA Bruins’ 88-game winning streak in 1974.
Fans who watch the Kentucky vs. Notre Dame basketball game live online will see the Fighting Irish as double-digit underdogs, but fan favorites.
“We are America’s team tomorrow, “coach Mike Brey said Friday. “And we love it, we certainly will take all that support. We’ve got a monumental challenge on our hands.”
Notre Dame has beaten the top-ranked team eight times in their history but will need to play near-perfect basketball on Saturday to make it nine.
But the team believes in themselves.
“You look back in history, we’ve been able to do it,” said senior forward Pat Connaughton. “Something that I and this team have preached on the whole year is that we’ve kind of been writing our own history, doing things the Notre Dame basketball program hasn’t done in a long time — or ever. So as much as you look back, you’ve got to still be in the present time and know that you’re going at this, it’s completely different.”
He added, “You can’t rely on history to play its course. You need to write your own history.”
The Wildcats had a scary moment in their Sweet Sixteen blowout win over West Virginia when leading scorer Aaron Harrison bent his finger going for a steal. Wildcats coach John Calipari said the bent finger was too graphic for him to look at.
“When I first saw it, I heard my wife just scream as a mother,” Calipari said, “I had to look away.”
But Harrison said the injury won’t slow him down in Saturday’s matchup with Notre Dame.
