Lindsey Graham Threatens To Cease Funding The U.N. If Barack Obama Bypasses Congress On Iran Sanctions

Tensions between the United States Congress and President Barack Obama have amplified over the last two years, mainly because Obama is accused of bypassing Congress, mostly through executive orders. The Inquisitr reported on this tactic Obama uses, especially the one executive order granting amnesty to millions of illegal aliens living in the country. Apparently, Congress halted it for many reasons but because it also granted “amnesty bonuses.” Congress would also be seen favorably by the Judicial Branch as a Federal judge has deemed said executive order unconstitutional.

Now in a similar situation, Congress is ready to take on President Barack Obama if he chooses to bypass them on Iran nuclear sanctions. Specifically, Lindsey Graham is threatening to cut funds to the United Nations (U.N.).

According to FOX News, Lindsey Graham, Republican Senator of South Carolina, warned the White House that he will move to cut funding to the U.N. if Barack Obama looks to international support to lift sanctions on Iran pertaining to a nuclear deal. Graham made his intentions clear during an appearance on On The Record With Greta Van Susteren. Also, this is possible because Graham is a chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee’s Subcommittee on State, Foreign Operations and Related Programs. Therefore, he has the power to block funding for the the U.N. And just to be clear, the government. has provided a substantial amount for the world organization with $654 million just this year alone.

What frightens Lindsey Graham the most is that Barack Obama might get the U.N. to lift sanctions without going through Congress if a nuclear deal with Iran were to be made. The worst possible scenario would be if Iran were to get a nuclear weapon. Graham has vowed he’d do his best to prevent such from happening.

“I’m not going to allow the United Nations to be used as a way to get around the United States Congress for a deal that affects the very existence of Israel and our own national security.”

“If they go to the U.N. Security Council, and the U.N. Security Council lifts all sanctions before we ever get a chance to look at this deal, absolutely I would suspend funding the United Nations, because I don’t think your money should go to an organization that irresponsible.”

Conservative Tribune followed-up on the original report, stating if Barack Obama were to bypass Congress just to support a deal with Iran, it wouldn’t just threaten the national security of the United States, but would also be a failure on behalf of the U.N., an organization established to promote peace.
