Singer-Songwriter David Crosby Hits Jogger With Car, Sunlight To Blame

Legendary people seem to have legendary problems.

Sunday evening, David Crosby struck a jogger with his car near Crosby’s residence in Santa Ynez, California. The singer, of Crosby, Stills, and Nash fame, was not speeding when the accident occurred, but in fact, may have been driving a few miles below.

The jogger, as reported by Time.com, was airlifted to Santa Barbara hospital with multiple fractures and abrasions. Don Clotworthy, a spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol, was quoted as saying the injuries are not life threatening and that Crosby was being “completely cooperative with authorities, and that he was not intoxicated or impaired in anyway.”

Except by Mother Nature herself.

Apparently, bright sunlight is to blame for the accident. Via the Huffington Post, an interview with local resident Pete Ganvini revealed that the particular stretch of road that both Crosby and jogger Jose Jimenez were traveling on is known for blind spots caused by bright sunlight. Gavini was quoted as saying that “If you don’t have sunglasses or a visor it is impossible to see what’s going on,” He went on to say that “This is a dangerous area. It is just not a good spot to be jogging.”

Jimenez was jogging with the flow of traffic, which is something of a concern since most safety experts advise walkers and runners alike to travel facing traffic, unless there is a sidewalk to use.

Crosby’s public relations manager, Michael Jensen, told USA Today that the song writer is “obviously upset he accidentally hit anyone” and “[that] based off of initial reports, he is relieved that the injuries to the gentleman were not life threatening. He wishes the jogger a very speedy recovery.”

In other Crosby news, fans will have a chance to see David on tour this year, both as a solo artist and with Crosby, Stills, and Nash. June kicks off the singer’s acoustic solo tour, with stops in Kerrville, Texas and Miami Beach, Florida, to name a few. The tour will wrap up in July at the Zeiterion Performing Arts Center in New Bedford, Massachusetts.

Later this year, the whole team of Crosby, Stills, and Nash will be touring Europe together, beginning in September at Eventim Apollo, and ending October 11th in Oslo, Norway, with stops in Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy, Germany and Denmark in between.

While Neil Young will be absent from the tour, he has done a few musical appearances over the years with Crosby and company. As reported by the Inquisitr, Young joined the group last years on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, for a rendition of Iggy Azaleas’s Fancy. A link to the story and video can be seen here.
