Fans can watch the Kentucky vs. Cincinnati basketball game live online and see if the Wildcats can continue their flawless run through the season or if the Bearcats have an upset in them.
The teams meet Saturday at 2:40 p.m. with a trip to the Sweet Sixteen on the line.
Kentucky and Cincinnati took different routes to their round of 32 matchup. The No. 1 overall and undefeated Wildcats blew out No. 16 seed Hampton, then took a little time off after the win that didn’t come until after the clock struck midnight.
“We didn’t get back to our rooms until 2 o’clock,” coach John Calipari said Friday. “I don’t understand why it was this late, but when you’re behind on an overtime game, that’s the kind of stuff that happens with long timeouts.
“But they performed. I watched the tape. We were up by 35. It’s hard to play when you’re up by 35. But we did what we were supposed to do.”
Cincinnati had a much more tense matchup. They went to overtime against Purdue before winning 66-65, and their late finish was a big part of the reason Kentucky started later.
If any team can upset the Kentucky Wildcats, it might just be Cincinnati. The Bearcats have a tenacious and physical zone defense that might be able neutralize Kentucky’s offensive firepower.
But Cincinnati coach Larry Davis said he knows his team has a big task ahead of them
“Obviously, you can’t give them transition,” Davis said. “If you turn the ball over against them, they are great at finishing because they’ve got eight or nine guys that are pro prospects and they’re going to finish it on you if you turn it over.. How we handle that will determine what the game’s like.”
Fans who watch the Kentucky vs. Cincinnati basketball game live online will see a Wildcats team with a chip on their shoulders. John Calipari has been feeding his players an “us against the world” mentality, and it’s starting to reflect in their statements.
“I think it’s fun,” sophomore guard Aaron Harrison said. “Us going in looking at it as us against the world, I think we’re going to thrive.”
Senior forward Marcus Lee said he’s known for years how disliked the Wildcats are outside of their own rapid fan base.
“I’ve honestly noticed that and felt like that since I first arrived here,” Lee said, “that it’s kind of us in this room against everybody else and you have to work and battle for each other.”
