Nancy Pelosi Attacks Stephen Colbert In New Ad [Video]

Stephen Colbert used to be a stand up guy. He used to fight for the rights of Americans. He used to be funny. But then he started taking money from anonymous donors through his SuperPac. Nancy Pelosi has just released a new ad that makes Stephen Colbert public enemy number 1.

“Stephen Colbert used to be my friend,” Pelosi says. “But since the day he started his SuperPac, taking secret money from special interest groups, he’s been out of control…. I hear he doesn’t even like kittens.”

Pelosi may be joking about a few things in the ad (her close relationship with Newt Gingrich) but the DISCLOSE ACT is a real piece of legislation. According to the page, DISCLOSE 2012 (HR 4010) was just introduced by Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD).

The DISCLOSE ACT 2012 reads:

“To amend the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 to provide for additional disclosure requirements for corporations, labor organizations, and other entities, and for other purposes.”

What do you think of Nancy Pelosi’s attack ad on Stephen Colbert? Do you think she’s bringing more attention to the bill by joining in on Colbert’s joke?

Here’s the attack ad.
