Jennifer Lawrence ‘Annoying’ And ‘Crass’, According To Chloe Sevigny

Jennifer Lawrence is regarded as one of the most popular actors in the world at the moment, but she has one enemy in the shape of Chloe Sevigny.

The 40-year-old actress spoke to V Magazine for the publication’s upcoming Spring issue, which is where she made her rather harsh comments regarding Lawrence.

Sevigny made it known that she finds the Silver Linings Playbook star both “annoying” and “crass,” before she then added that she doesn’t see the appeal in Lawrence.

“I love it when a great movie star is a great movie star,” Sevigny declared. “I think Angelina [Jolie] is a great movie star. I like Emma Stone. Whenever she’s herself, she’s really cute. Jennifer Lawrence I find annoying. Too crass.”

Sevigny remarked that the reason she finds Lawrence so irritating is that, in her opinion, she is “afraid that maybe people think there’s more personality than acting ability.”

But rather than simply lambasting Lawrence, Sevigny also conceded that the actress has done well to carve out such an impressive career. But she puts her success down to her celebrity status and ability to sell herself rather than her talent.

“So much is about marketing and selling the product,” Sevigny explained. “They’ll have a really peppy funny girl on the talk show rounds, and everybody adores her and loves her and wants to be her or f*** her, and then so many more people want to watch the movie or TV show. I understand that star quality, how much value that carries.”

Sevigny was talking to V Magazine to promote her upcoming appearance in Bloodline, which will air on Netflix and starts its first season on March 20.

Meanwhile it’s safe to say that Sevigny’s comments regarding Jennifer Lawrence will prove to be rather divisive. Lawrence has already been nominated for an Academy Award on three occasions.

She earned her first nomination for her performance in 2010’s Winter Bone, while she became the second-youngest Best Actress Oscar winner after she picked up the Academy Award for her portrayal in David O. Russell’s Silver Linings Playbook. Her next collaboration with Russell also resulted in her third Academy Award nomination, which was for her supporting role in American Hustle.

Lawrence has also starred in the likes of X-Men: First Class, and the first three installments of the Hunger Games franchise, while she will next be seen in Serena, opposite Bradley Cooper once again, which is due out on March 27, 2015.
