National Signing Day: Dorial Green-Beckham, Top HS Recruit, Signs with Missouri

It’s official, the nation’s overall #1 prospect receiver Dorial Green-Beckham has committed to Missouri, announcing the news live on ESPNU on National Signing Day 2012.

Green-Beckham, who played for Hillcrest High School in Springfield, Missouri, chose the Tigers over Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma and Alabama.

“I mean it’s going to be a big impact to help Missouri join the SEC by being the best player out there,” Green-Beckham told CBS when asked about the SEC move.

Standing tall at 6’6?, weighing 220 lbs., and capable of running a 40-yard dash in 4.43 seconds according to Rivals.com, Dorial has been compared to multiple NFL stars including recent first round draft picks Julio Jones and A.J. Green, as well as 2-time Pro Bowler Calvin “Megatron” Johnson.

“Dorial Green-Beckham, just on pure athleticism alone, is too good to keep off the field,” said ESPNU recruiting analyst Tom Luginbill.

During his career at Hillcrest High School, Green-Beckham set national records with 6,353 receiving yards and 75 touchdowns, holds five Missouri state high school football records, and was named National Player of the Year by Sporting News, USA-Today, Parade Magazine and Max-Preps.

He also broke his state season record during his senior year by racking up 2,233 yards on 119 catches with 24 touchdowns and capped off his prep career with a record setting, one handed 79 yard touchdown catch in the Army All-America game on national television.

His highlights can be seen all over YouTube scoring on deep passes, short and long crossing routes, receiver screens, and running plays.
