‘Dragon Age: Inquisition’ DLC Isn’t As Much Of A Priority As Bug Patches, Says Creative Director

Early last month, BioWare’s Mark Darrah confirmed to fans that work on the first DLC for Dragon Age: Inquisition has officially begun. The Inquisitr reported that Darrah, who serves as executive producer of the Dragon Age series, informally announced that the team has indeed started the development process for Dragon Age: Inquisition’s initial add-on. However, no details have been revealed about what the upcoming DLC will entail. All that is known at this time is that work on the content is now underway.

While DLC for Dragon Age: Inquisition is something that BioWare is in the process of developing, the studio is currently more concerned with releasing free updates for the game rather than releasing paid DLC content. Dragon Age: Inquisition Creative Director Mike Laidlaw revealed to fans from his personal Twitter account that BioWare is specifically focusing on completing Patch 5 for Dragon Age: Inquisition as a priority ahead of any DLC development. Laidlaw revealed BioWare’s commitment to updates after a community member asked about DLC.

“We’ll see what we can do, but want to focus on Patch 5/Black Emporium/storage first.”

So while there definitely will be DLC add-ons for the game later on, Dragon Age: Inquisition users can expect to receive new titles updates for the popular fantasy game in the near future. Thankfully, in addition to fixing bugs and various other known issues, BioWare does plan to add free gameplay additions to the next Dragon Age: Inquisition update.

Dragon Age: Inquisition is now available on Xbox One, Playstation 4, Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC. While DLC will eventually be released for the game, the developer’s top priority at this time is launching the title’s next update. BioWare is currently running a beta program that allows select PC players to help test upcoming Dragon Age: Inquisition patches before they officially become available for download.

On Monday, the developer released the full notes for Dragon Age: Inquisition’s next patch, which will include the above features as well as user interface tweaks that will give users the ability to alter the size of subtitle text. The update also corrects several bugs and A.I. issues regarding companion character’s combat effectiveness. It is still unknown exactly when the update will be released across all platforms.

Are you glad to hear that BioWare is more focused on patching Dragon Age: Inquisition, or would you prefer that they fully prioritize releasing DLC for the game?
