‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 5 Spoilers: Jon Snow Goes On The Offensive

Fans of Game of Thrones are counting down the days until the start of Season 5. And with only a few short weeks to go, HBO has begun it’s marketing blitz, most recently posting short preview clips featuring two of it’s most popular characters in action: Jon Snow and Brienne of Tarth.

[Warning: Spoilers Ahead]

The first clip centers around Jon Snow and the newly captured Mance, the leader of the united clans who failed to take the Wall in the harrowing final episodes of Season 4. Snow, played by Kit Harrington, is seemingly interrogating his fallen foe, trying to appeal to his sense of duty.

“You spent your life convincing the clans to come together for the first time in history,” Jon Snow starts. “A life’s work uniting them. You didn’t do it for power. You didn’t do it for glory. You brought them together to save them. Isn’t their survival more important than you pride?”

To which Mance defiantly rises and says, “Pride? F—k my pride,” before the clip fades to black.

The second clip follows Brienne of Tarth and her faithful servant Podrick in a moment of self-doubt.

“I don’t want anyone following me,” a damaged Brienne says. “I’m not a leader. All I ever wanted was to follow a Lord I believed in. But the good Lords are dead and the rest are monsters.”

This particular Game of Thrones clip doesn’t exactly provide any context for what has unfolded, but we know that on the heels of events from last season, Brienne will be trying to track down Arya Stark, who fled to Bravos following the death of her protector The Hound.

In a recent Reddit AMA, the actress who portrays Arya, Maisie Williams, discussed the larger role her character will play in the upcoming season. She also mentioned a particularly emotional scene that will have Game of Thrones fans talking.

“There’s actually a scene in the coming season… which was my most difficult scene to film. And I think fans are going to be really excited about it. More emotional than we’ve seen Arya in previous seasons.”

Meanwhile, another fan favorite’s storyline was all but confirmed for Game of Thrones Season 5. As reported by the Inquistr, HBO released a new poster featuring Tyrion Lannister confronting (presuambly) one of Daenerys Targaryen’s dragons.

The poster clearly indicates Tyrion, played by Peter Dinklage, who is on the run for having murdered his father Tywinn, will indeed confront Daenerys played by Emilia Clarke at some point in Game of Thrones Season 5.
