WWE News: UFC President Dana White Explains Why WWE World Champion Brock Lesnar Attended UFC 184 PPV

UFC 184 was full of highs and lows. While it was not a stacked card, it did have a record-breaking win by UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey, who defeated her opponent in 14 seconds, the fastest title win in UFC history.

However, some big news from the night had nothing to do with the fighters. Rather, it was regarding Brock Lesnar and his attendance of the show. Why is it a big deal when a current WWE Superstar goes to watch some fights?

The reason is simply because we can assume Lesnar wasn’t just there to watch some fights, but UFC President Dana White doesn’t want us to get anything twisted.

When asked about Lesnar, he claimed, “He’s a fan of fights. He wanted to come watch the fights. When his contract is up with the WWE, he can come talk to me.”

While most could understand this sort of thing as it makes sense for us to think that a fan of MMA would want to attend a big event that happened to be sold out, but the fact is that this was not a card that most MMA fans were dying to see. While Ronda Rousey is a skilled fighter who has box office appeal, she is not at the level of fame other fighters are. Plus, her last two fights have now taken her a combined 30 seconds to win, you could have seen this main event on Vine for free. Fans weren’t clamoring to spend $60 on the PPV.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist for us to figure out that Lesnar and White were discussing a potential UFC future. What is interesting is that Lesnar appeared on camera next to White to give us that very assumption. Lesnar is a smart guy, and he knows that WWE wants him just as bad as UFC does. Arguably, WWE has more money to blow to get Lesnar to re-sign, but The Beast Incarnate wants more than what WWE is offering him.

WWE is said to be where they need to be financially on the deal, but length of the deal along with a few other things, such as merchandise material, is an issue that Lesnar wants to work out with them.

Lesnar knew if he showed up in the crowd at UFC, he would get attention. Plus, this is the second to last UFC PPV before his WWE deal expires… so that happened to be a coincidence, right? He also dressed up in a suit and tie, which is not something we see with Lesnar often. Plus, how many big MMA fans wear a suit and tie just to go watch people fight, outside of the owners? Many believe it was all for the attention so that WWE would see him and then think about the idea of maybe working with him on his contract.

Lesnar has shown that he can show up in UFC if he chooses, and he is giving the assumption that he and Dana White are talking, which is only going to make WWE think about working more to get the deal Brock wants. It is said that Lesnar loves his work with WWE, but those extra few things he wants are big for him. He knows if he can’t get them in WWE, he may be able to in UFC.

This public appearance by the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar is certainly going to get WWE executives talking about what to do about his deal. How could they not? It was certainly a smart power play by Brock Lesnar.
