Elton John Tells Madonna To “Lip-Sync Good” At Super Bowl

Elton John had a pop at Madonna telling her to “lip-sync good”. Madonna is set to perform at half-time during Super Bowl this Sunday. Asked on Good Morning America what advice he’d give Madonna, Elton John said:

“Make sure you lip-sync good.”

Elton John has accused Madonna of lip-syncing in the past, after she won the Best Live Act at the GQ Awards in 2004. With over one billion people watching, the Super Bowl is the ultimate opportunity for exposure. Artists like Paul McCartney and Bruce Springsteen have sang at the Super Bowl in the past. Asked if he’d ever seen a great performance there, Elton John said:

“I’ve never seen a decent one. Never ever.”

Elton John did show some sympathy towards artists who have performed at the Super Bowl:

“You have to play live, but I don’t think you can. In all fairness to everyone who’s done one before, you may be able to sing live, but it’s really hard to play live.”

Elton John’s husband, David Furnish, has also had plenty to say about Madonna of late. After winning a Best Original Song award at the Golden Globes earlier this month, Furnish wrote on Facebook:

“Madonna. Best song???? F**k off!!! Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit. Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in it’s narcissism. And her critisism of Gaga shows how desperate she really is.(sic)”

What do you make of these recent comments from Elton John and David Furnish? Sour grapes or fair enough?
