‘Once Upon A Time’ Spoilers: Cruella De Vil Has Mind-Controlling Breath

When Once Upon a Time returns from its midseason break this Sunday, fans will get a first look at how the Queens of Darkness come together.

But the one thing that’s been confusing ever since the announcement of the Queens of Darkness is how Cruella de Vil (Victoria Smurfit) is involved, and if she has any special powers. Maleficent (Kristen Bauer van Straten) has her staff, and Ursula (Merrin Dungey) has her tentacles, so Cruella can’t just be off to the side with an evil smile during her Once Upon a Time run. Well, this new clip, first discovered on Entertainment Weekly, shows that Cruella can put her Rottweilers under her power with some mind-controlling breath. One has to assume that she may use this power on people throughout the remainder of the season, too, and make them do whatever she tells them.

The new clip from the Once Upon a Time spring premiere also shows that the Queens of Darkness will first meet at Maleficent’s castle. But she’s confused as to why Ursula and Cruella are even there, since she has never met them. But then it’s revealed that Rumpelstiltskin (Robert Carlyle) is the one who brought them all together, and he has plans for all of them to work together on a devious scheme.

Once Upon a Time executive producer Adam Horowitz told Hypable there’s a reason why the three villains are joining forces, but he didn’t go any further than just giving a little tease.

“…if you keep watching, you’ll see there’s a connection between all of them, and all of our characters, that make it clear why those three in particular.”

Maleficent has previously appeared in Once Upon a Time, but this season marks the first time that Ursula and Cruella de Vil have appeared in the series. Horowitz said the second half of this season will explain their arrival to Storybrooke and a lot more.

“There’s an upcoming episode where all the pieces of the chess board are laid out and who ended up where and why, and that will also speak to why these three, and how they sort of connected.”

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, the first half of the current season of Once Upon a Time showed Robin Hood and Rumpelstiltskin leaving Storybrooke for different reasons. Horowitz noted that there will be more people leaving in the second half of the season.

“You’ll see characters arriving in Storybrooke, and you’ll see some characters departing as well.”
