Drew Barrymore To Pen Revealing Memoir About Her Life
Drew Barrymore has had a very interesting and dramatic life. Coming from a long lineage of actors and actresses, Barrymore was exposed to film and theater at an early age, but was also exposed to substances that lead to an early haphazard life.
By nine, she had smoked pot. At age thirteen, she went to rehab for the first time, and when she was fourteen she attempted suicide. Fortunately, she bounced back from all of this, and wound up leading a very successful career both behind and in front of the camera.
Instead of focusing on the dark, for her memoir Barrymore will focus on positivity. Drew released a statement to People Magazine about her upcoming memoir.
“I love stories that are humorous, emotional and welcoming, and that is my goal in writing this book.”
That said, she will include stories about how it felt to live on her own at the age of fourteen. The actress became emancipated from both of her parents at that age. Barrymore plans to explore her many firsts she experienced that most go through while in college.

According to her publisher, Dutton, stories from her untitled memoir include, “living on her own at 14 (and how laundry may have saved her life), getting stuck in a gas station overhang on a cross-country road trip, saying goodbye to her father in a way only he could have understood, and many more adventures and lessons that have led to the most important thing in her life, which is motherhood.”

Although Barrymore has stepped away from the big screen in recent years, she seems to have a very fulfilling life as a mother.
During an interview, the actress explained her life change as a mother to two children.
“I think if you get to that point in your life when you are a mother, you’re happy to apply yourself wholly to your child. As I had kids nearing 40 rather than in my 20s or 30s, I guess I had to grow up. I needed to figure out a lot of things that I didn’t learn when I was younger by example.”
