New Powerball Winner Marie Holmes Plans To Buy Home And Have Their ‘Own Everything’

New Powerball winner, Marie Holmes, plans to buy a home and make sure her family has their “own everything.”

The 26-year-old single mother from Shallotte, North Carolina was one of three Powerball players to win the $564 million jackpot on the February 11 drawing. Each winner won $188 million of the prize.

Holmes had to quit her jobs at McDonald’s and Walmart in order to take care of her four children — one of whom has cerebral palsy. Her life is about to get a whole lot easier.

Holmes appeared on ABC’s Good Morning America Tuesday to talk about her the huge changes just beginning to happen in her life. She’s been living with six other people in her mother’s house and caring for her kids, ages 9 months to 7-years-old. The first thing this new Powerball winner is going to do is buy a home when she finds the right location.

“I don’t have to worry about staying with my mom anymore. I can have my own place. We’re going to have our own everything.”

Holmes will take home $87.9 million after receiving a lump sum payout of $127 million. The Powerball winner said her mother bought her the lottery ticket on her way to church. She was the first one she called when she learned that she had the winning numbers.

In the GMA interview Holmes said she wants to purchase a home for her mother and fix up her grandmother’s house. There are other plans to buy a car, travel some, save for her children’s education, and go back to school herself. Holmes wants to study nursing.

It’s been all over the news that another important thing this new Powerball winning mom wants to tithe some of the money. She said none of this would be happening “if it weren’t for God,” as Christian Times reports.

Regardless of the fact Marie Holmes is now a millionaire and can buy just about anything she wants, she’s firm on one thing; her kids are going to still hear the word, “no,” like they did before because it’s a “learning process.”

“You’re not going to get everything. I can buy you everything but I’m not.”

The Inquisitr has written about Marie Holmes in several articles since she won in one of the biggest Powerball drawings. On Monday, the young woman claimed her portion of the huge jackpot. Her plans to buy a new home and get “everything” her family can call their own will be a welcome change.

The Powerball numbers for the February 11 drawing were 25, 11, 54, 13 and 39, with a Powerball of 19.
