Cleveland Browns Release New Logo Design That Doesn’t Look Any Different From The Last One

The Cleveland Browns have released the team’s new logo, one that many are noting isn’t much different than its previous logo.

After a week of buildup and leaked designs, the Browns finally unveiled the new logo on Tuesday. It features a darker shade of orange on the team’s helmet and a re-designed Dawg Pound logo.

The team explained the reasoning behind the changes on a page that also showed the differences between the 2014 and 2015 designs:

“Our updated helmet logo is reflective of today’s modern Cleveland – the design honors the past while evolving into the future. The iconic brown and white stripes stand tall over the orange helmet – a new orange color that matches the passion of the Dawg Pound. The new brown facemask represents the strength and toughness of Cleveland.”

The logo was met with a bit of head-scratching from fans, who noted that it wasn’t much of a change at all.

Here is what one Reddit user had to say:

“If this isn’t an allegory for the Browns on the whole, I don’t know what is.”

“No seriously, it’s going to be different this time! It’s going to be exciting and new! You’re all going to get so hype!”

(nothing changes)

Many Twitter users also mocked the seemingly “new” Cleveland Browns logo:

The Cleveland Browns explained that the new logo was a nod to the anniversary of its raucous fan group:

“2015 marks the 30th anniversary of the Dawg Pound – bestowing a unique opportunity to modernize the symbolism of the Dawg Pound through an evolved logo. The Dawg Pound represents one of the most iconic fan bases in all of sports. The Dawg Pound is a unifying identity of all Cleveland Browns faithful. It’s tough and exemplifies the “Play Like A Brown” attitude. With one passionate voice – the DAWG POUND BARKS TOGETHER.”

The Cleveland Browns may have fallen flat with their new logo release, but the team still has a chance to win over fans with the new look. The new design of the team’s uniforms will be released in April.
