‘Teen Mom OG’ Special: ‘Getting To Know’ Maci, Farrah, Catelynn, and Amber To Air On MTV

Teen Mom OG is set to premiere on MTV next month, but before that, MTV is planning to air a special. There will be four specials centered on the four cast members and will serve as a way for viewers to “get to know” the girls and catch up with what they have been doing since the original show has been off the air.

Teen Mom originally aired as a spin-off to 16 and Pregnant. Four girls were picked to continue sharing their stories. Overtime, though, things got hard for some of the cast members, particularly Amber Portwood who found herself in a downward spiral. She ended up choosing to go to prison in order to turn her life around and, with that decision, MTV seemingly decided to end the show. However, Amber is out of prison and has her life back on track. Not only that, but she and the other girls have been filming with MTV and are ready to continue their stories.

Teen Mom OG aims to bring a new look at the girls, though. It won’t be like the original show and, instead, will offer a new approach. MTV released a statement about the new format for the show.

“Teen Mom OG’ will break the fourth wall, pulling back the curtain to reveal their relationships with the producers and crew, the challenges of raising children on camera, and how life in the public eye has shaped them as parents and people.”

The Getting to Know You specials will air beginning February 21. As Starcasm points out, Maci Bookout, Farrah Abraham, Amber Portwood, and Catelynn Lowell will all have their own specials.

Catelynn Lowell’s special will air first beginning at noon on the East Coast and later at night at 8 p.m. She and her fiancé, Tyler Baltierra, are best known for allowing their decision to place their daughter up for adoption be chronicled on 16 and Pregnant and on Teen Mom.

“Catelynn and Tyler relive their decision to give their baby up for adoption, and everything that followed.”

Catelynn Lowell’s second pregnancy will be chronicled on Teen Mom OG and may be talked about during her special. She gave birth to daughter, Novalee on New Year’s Day.

Amber Portwood’s special will air after Catelynn’s and will focus on her life post Teen Mom.

“Amber and Gary reflect on the years documented by MTV, and discuss her drug addiction, going to jail and the custody of Leah.”

Maci Bookout’s special follows Amber’s and will look back at her life prior to signing on for the new Teen Mom OG season. Maci is currently pregnant with her second child and that will likely be a huge storyline for her on the new season.

“Maci and her friends examine the past six years and discuss the difficulties of growing up in front of an audience.”

Finally, Farrah Abraham’s special will air last. Initially, Farrah was not asked back to the show and her feelings about that were chronicled in the preview for the new Teen Mom series.

“Farrah’s family and friends share their feelings about her involvement in the adult entertainment industry, and the hardships following Sophia’s father’s death.”

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Farrah’s family supports her decisions. In fact, her father revealed that his feelings about her endeavors would soon be known and it looks like they may be talked about on the Getting to Know Farrah special.

Teen Mom OG will premiere March 23 on MTV.
