Neil Patrick Harris Takes Midas Touch To Host Oscars 2015: How To Live-Stream 87th Academy Awards Free [Video]

Get your popcorn ready for the Oscars 2015, to be hosted by TV’s golden boy Neil Patrick Harris. This year, you can live-stream the Academy Awards as Harris shows off his triple-threat skills, reported the New York Daily News.

As host, Harris follows the legacy of Billy Crystal and Bob Hope. And the creative actor-singer-dancer revealed that he only had one concern when it came to providing him with the freedom to prescribe his own Doogie Howser remedy for the sometimes-dull, lengthy broadcast.

“You don’t want to sign on, and then be told what to do,” said Neil of asking the producers for room to improvise.

To live-stream the 87th Academy Awards for free, you have several options, according to the Mississippi Press. Depending on your device, you can select the “Watch Live” section in the Watch ABC app.

Alternatively, go to ABC.com‘s dedicated Oscar page to view everything from the red carpet to behind-the-scenes footage. You won’t need to sign in. And if you are in one of the support live-streaming areas, you can also view the live digital stream that includes Jimmy Kimmel Live: After the Oscars on the app.

You’ll need to wait until February 22 to watch the show, which begins at 7 p.m. on the East coast and 4 p.m. on the West coast.

Presenters include Chiwetel Ejiofor, Chris Evans, Dakota Johnson, Jennifer Lopez, Chloë Grace Moretz, Eddie Murphy, Margot Robbie, Ben Affleck, Jessica Chastain, Viola Davis, Kevin Hart, Shirley MacLaine, Chris Pine, Miles Teller, and Naomi Watts.

In addition, look for a special performance by Lady Gaga.

And to build up the anticipation, Neil shared some of the Oscars 2015 backstage secrets with Entertainment Tonight.

“There will be a musical number at some point in the show,” revealed Neil.

As for that famous Midas touch that allows him to succeed with sparks of creativity? Neil played with viewers’ imagination in offering some magical predictions.

“I’m a magician so I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a hint of magic. I fear I’ve said too much.”

As for the nominees, Jennifer Aniston has admitted that she had hoped to be among them for her role in Cake, as the Inquisitr reported.

And Aniston wasn’t alone. Also touted to be nominated but then snubbed was Angelina Jolie for directing Unbroken.

But Jennifer is taking the high road by agreeing to present at the Oscars, reported Us Weekly. She will be joined by Selma‘s David Oyelowo, who also was expected to be nominated for portraying Martin Luther King, Jr.
